A BAD DAY AND THE FIRST INCOME

A new member has joined the college. A former senior batch student from my own college is with us now to work as full time teacher. This is a good thing for me as I had never wished to teach the students. If she weren't there it would have been on my shoulders to tech some related subjects when the associated teacher is unavailable. And now, I am relaxed that that the burden is of my shoulder.
The exam continues as it has been going on int he college. I was not supposed to be the invigilator yesterday but due to some reasons I was entitled for that. It was a bad day for me. I am a moderate controller. We were three people at two rooms. One a teacher of my time as student and another is a new comer in college. The first one is very go easy type person for exams letting students do whatever they wish. In my former post I wrote about letting examinees loose. At that time we two were guards in the hall and I learned to let loose from him.
Yesterday I got the bad sides of letting the examinees loose. The noises they made were annoying and they were like uncontrollable. He was even unable to control anything and called me from next room to control the noise. Even I had to try hard for that and was only partly successful. In NEPALI we have a saying, "IF YOU GIVE A FINGER AS AID THEY'LL TRY TO GOBBLE YOUR WHOLE HAND". I felt the same way. We were giving them chance and they were trying to get over us. This is it, now there will be no more moderate time. All the exams will be tight.
Meanwhile, the second colleague is a strict type. He couldn't bear what happened and was continuously complaining with me. He alone also couldn't control the class without the help of the first teacher.I also felt bad in myself.

For the bright side, I got paid for the last twelve days of previous month. This is the month as per the lunar system. How much I got paid?????...........OH!!!!!! it is only 2574 NRs. I got paid as a teaching intern. I am happy to receive my first payment though this is like 25% of what others are being paid. Compared to the inflation in Nepal and the world as a whole is facing this is like a drop of water in the ocean and is nothing at all. But still I am happy. Maybe the way each person feels for the first time when they receive their first income of hard earnings. This money I handed to my mother and asked back for 1000 NRs. HA HA HA!!!! I still need some to continue myself isn't it?

End of Month... But Empty Hand

Today is the last day of the month as per the lunar calendar and I was hoping to get some part of my salary today. It has been half a month i.e, 15 days at my work and as per what I had heard before I was  quite sure to get a 15 day rated salary. But my expectations just were limited to expectations. My first salary was on due. Though, I have been on job for last 15 days I just got my appointment letter today. It doesn't matter as the date for my appointment is the original one when I had joined.
Going to the college where you studied some time before is like somewhat awkward for me. I am just a teaching intern for now and my salary is limited to the half amount than that of a full time teacher. Damn, this result thing..... I have been waiting for this for a long time for nearly 3 months and still it is pending. Had my results been out I would have got double the amount I am getting now. Still, talking and talking but nothing is going to happen as my salary is not in my hands.

It is obvious that one might get sad seeing others getting in to the account section and returning back with loaded pockets and still I am the one being empty pocket. Others were sure that I will also get my share today and were asking how much I got my hand into. Ha ha ha... I just laughed at whatever they said and made it a secret. Now, I am hoping to get it this coming Sunday. If not I will ask the account head person for reasons and when will I have my part.

Today also as other days I was the invigilator. Like other days I let guys loose and helped them to cheat when another colleague went out for refreshment. This is me. I rarely got chance to do so and passed my exams with hard works. What is it giving me. Though I am one of the best products my college had still I end up with nothing and nothing at all. Others who scored less and were not considered good in class and even who have failed the examinations in past semesters are in better job positions and are being paid a good sum of money. Hard toil pays this in here, so better loose the guys for exams. Latter they might feel that they passed easily and had not much to loose. They might not regret that they unnecessarily lost some parts of their life.

So friends, lets hope for better days and hope that I will have my hand handy this Sunday.

New in the Job

Its usually different when you go to new places and meet different and new people. But, how about those who go to the places that were known to them already. I am also talking about myself. I am going to my own college from where I am graduating my bachelors level. Right now I am a teaching intern there as my results are not out yet. After my results are out, I will be a TA i.e, teaching assistant. Right now examinations of even semester students are going on and I am also an invigilator for now.
Today was a new day as usual and a day for my duty in examination hall. There was also another teacher with me. We let students loose for their examination today. In Nepal no one cares how a person or specifically the students pass their exams. What counts is the marks no matter how it was scored or how low the person's intellect is. Even these days marks or the grades is of no value. The only thing important is how well you know the leaders and the political parties activists. More closer you are more are your chances to get a better jobs. Rest of the world is of no use or is no good no matter if the topper students are included in this group.

So that is the reason why I let them loose to cheat. To make them able to survive in Nepal to some extent and if they can't they have a new way to apply for foreign land universities. The grades I have scored are of no better use for me right now. I don't have a better job. I feel like I am stuck here. So guys you don't feel that way. And best of luck......

MASTER SAHEEB...... means teacher

I remember the movie "3 IDIOTS" clearly. It is one of the best movies ever and the one which each engineer should watch in a life time. In fact every professional and technical field students should at least watch this movie once.

The words 'master saheeb' interests me the most. It is like satirical for engineers as I think. And the most funniest thing is that now I am trying to be a teacher. This feeling that travels through me is unexplainable and a bit awkward. I feel this way because I just was a student around two months ago and now I am a teacher. Yesterday was my first day in my professional life.

I was called on last Thursday to go and meet the principal of my own college from where I am graduating my B.E. I didn't know that I would be asked to join from the day I met the Principal sir. Working with whom I called teachers and becoming a colleague with them are different things. This is adding some new feelings within me.

These days exams are going on in the college. And there is load shedding too. So, I am not teaching right now. In fact, I will be seeing over the projects and the practicals for juniors. Besides this I may even be asked to teach for some periods too, So, I'll be looking after everything....projects, practicals and theoretical classes, I will be the Invigilator to the examinees too. Being an invigilator will be the first experience of my professional part of life. I was also called early for duty to do this. Otherwise I would have been called some two weeks latter.

There were two teachers who are now leaving the college for further studies in abroad. So, I was called early. I met then and got chance to become a part of the farewell treat given by college to them. OK, whatever I say I have become a teacher I just spent a day in leisure at my work place. What a day and what a profession!!!!

Nostalgia to the childhood

We have a cow in our house. Two days before yesterday I took her for grazing in a ground. We don't have the meadows that big so there are just grounds. There were some kids playing a game called "game ball". The rules for this game are different in different places. But somethings are common. There is a pile of bricks that are stacked in a heap. Some put the ball over the pile or some others use it to hit the pile or some others have ball in the hands of opponents and hit the pile with a stone or brick or anything. Anyway, the main target is the pile that is to be hit from a certain marked distance and the pile should be destroyed. Then the hitting team comes to pile the bricks again where as the opponent team uses ball to hit the ones who pile the bricks. If all members are hit the opponent wins and gets turn for hitting the pile otherwise if the hitting team piles all the bricks they win and get chance to hit again. More the number more is the game interesting as there will be more bricks to pile up.

So I was there looking at the game and they were just playing. The hitting distance was a bit larger for the smaller players and they even couldn't hit or hardly roll the hitting stone to half the distance. It was funny the way they were hitting and trying to reach the target. Only the bigger ones had chances to hit the target. But they had to be lucky to hit the pile. The game is not the game without some quarrels and the battle place and the playground is not a place for those who can't run or do as they should do. There was some hook and crook things then started the smaller quarrels. Even the same team partners scolded the ones who couldn't perform better. Then a girl sat and said 'I will not play, no more'. The teams were unbalanced and a smaller one with lower significance was transferred to this team. The game continued with some this and that things.

So they played and I just watched them play. It felt nice even watching them and I felt how we miss things from the past as we move on and we become nostalgic about them. I longed to go back to that time when I also used to play the same game and used to quarrel with my friends. Childhood is really a great time. Though I can't go back to it I still can enjoy watching the new kids play the games.
